Rankscale alternatives

Rankscale alternatives compared by engine coverage, repeated runs, citation analysis, pricing units and the measurement depth each workload needs.

Rankscale was named in 9% of 80 sampled answers, with an interval of 4 to 17. That puts it in the same measured range as AirOps, also at 9%, while the sample gives no basis for treating either product as a market-share leader.

For Rankscale alternatives, the useful comparison is narrower than a popularity list. This piece focuses on engine breadth versus repeated, comparable observations. The AI search visibility leaderboard covers the wider set, including Otterly, Peec AI and Profound.

Which engines do you need to track?

Rankscale's pricing page lists ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok, Copilot and more. It also lists AI Mode, GUI engines such as AI Overview GUI and Copilot GUI, and API engines including several Perplexity, GPT, Gemini and Mistral variants. The page says that the number of answers you can track depends on which engines you select per search term, as shown on the Rankscale pricing page. The page's wording implies you could vary engines by search term, so the same prompt set could produce different monthly coverage depending on that selection.

That breadth matters when engine differences are part of the question.

The fixed option uses four engines on Starter and Growth, while a $19 ChatGPT Only plan asks ChatGPT alone. A scan on Starter or Growth puts ten buyer questions to four AI engines three or five times each through official APIs, producing 120 to 200 live calls per scan, according to the CiteGraph pricing page. The engine set stays consistent across the scan, which makes changes easier to attribute.

Rankscale specifically names Copilot and AI Mode, so those surfaces can be included when they are part of the brief. A fixed four engine setup instead gives you a stable basis for comparing the same questions over time, including per engine history and changes in mentions or citations.

How much depth do you need from each answer?

Rankscale prices usage in credits. Its pricing page says each engine query typically costs 0.25 credits. The same page lists query fanout, which shows internal searches, probed domains, wins and losses, plus sources box analysis for the sources shown beside an answer. That is analysis within each answer, even when the engine set is broad.

The fixed four engine plans put more capacity into repeated scans.

Weekly scans on Starter and Growth ask each question three times on four engines; a scan you start on Growth asks it five times. The plans also list weekly tracking, trends, change alerts and per engine history. The choice is therefore between inspecting more engine surfaces and repeating a consistent observation often enough to judge whether it persists.

For example, a team tracking one product across 10 buyer questions can use the Growth plan like this:

  1. Growth allows 10 questions per project.
  2. Its weekly scan asks each question three times.
  3. That produces 10 × 3 = 30 question runs.
  4. Each run uses four engines.
  5. The weekly scan therefore makes 30 × 4 = 120 engine answer observations for that project. A scan you start on Growth asks each question five times, which gives 10 × 5 × 4 = 200.

The Growth plan costs $69 a month, according to the CiteGraph pricing page. It covers three projects and 10 tracked rivals. Starter's weekly scans make the same 120 observations per project, across two projects rather than three.

Those observations are not a direct equivalent to Rankscale's answer ceilings. Rankscale says a query typically uses 0.25 credits and that the number of answers depends on the selected engines, so its total changes with the engine mix.

How do you compare the plans for your workload?

Rankscale's pricing page gives this accounting example: “50 prompts × 0.75 credits/run × weekly = 162.5 credits / month.” It also says the product can track up to 4,800, 12,000, 22,000 or 48,000 answers on its four paid tiers, with the result depending on the engines selected. Those figures describe credit usage and answer capacity, not a fixed equivalent to the 120 or 200 observations in the worked example.

Compare the unit behind each number.

Rankscale fits when engine breadth is part of the requirement and you can manage a variable engine mix. A fixed four engine plan fits when repeated observations, comparable history and per engine changes matter more than covering every available surface.

A one off test changes the calculation. Every CiteGraph plan is paid from the day it starts and runs its first scan that day; cancelling from Billing stops the next renewal. The free AI readiness check runs 15 checks without an account and shows the fix for each, but it does not replace answer tracking. CiteGraph also runs as an MCP server, so Claude, Cursor or VS Code can read a scan and apply readiness fixes in a repository.

What can you learn from this data, and what can’t you?

We can tell you that Rankscale offers a broad, selectable engine menu and analysis of query fanout and sources boxes. We can also tell you that the fixed four engine plans increase repeated runs, projects, rivals and written page capacity across their tiers. In the 80 answer leaderboard sample, Rankscale appeared in 9% of answers and was cited from its own site in 3%.

The data has a concrete limit: Rankscale's interval runs from 4 to 17 points, wide enough that it could sit anywhere near Scrunch or AirOps, which both post a 9% share in this sample.

We cannot tell you which tool will produce more useful recommendations for your domain. The leaderboard contains 10 buyer questions across four engines, and its intervals are based on that sample. We have not measured your prompts, your competitors or the exact engine mix you would select in Rankscale.

We also cannot turn Rankscale's answer limits into a clean price comparison from the sources checked here. The public page now prices each tier beside its answer ceiling, but it gives no fixed engine allocation for each ceiling, so no Rankscale plan maps directly to the fixed observations above. We measure samples, print intervals and do not know how either product behaves outside the measured workload.

The next question to ask is: which engine set and repeat depth match the decision you need to make? Start with your own prompt sample, then use the weekly research on who owns AI answers to compare observed engine and citation patterns in your category.

Questions people ask

What are the best Rankscale alternatives for repeated AI visibility tracking?+

The fixed four engine plans provide repeated runs, weekly tracking, trends, change alerts and per engine history. Starter costs $29 a month and Growth costs $69.

Which Rankscale alternative tracks the same questions across fixed engines?+

A fixed four engine plan, Starter or Growth, uses the same four engines in every scan. Weekly scans ask each question three times, and a scan you start on Growth asks it five times.

How do Rankscale alternatives compare on engine breadth and pricing?+

Rankscale offers a broad, selectable engine menu, including Copilot and AI Mode, and charges usage in credits. The fixed four engine plans list monthly prices of $29 and $69.
